All the amenities and all the sunshine

The Beetle never goes out of style, especially after its recent redesign. But it’s more than just a fashion accessory. With either the 170 or 210 hp engine, the Beetle Convertible is super fun to drive. And it includes even more standard features than the hardtop Beetle, like heated leatherette seats and 17-inch wheels. But of course, the best feature is the power folding soft convertible top. It goes up and down at the press of a button in only about 10 seconds. There’s also a detachable wind guard that can be put in place to reduce wind and noise.

Speaking of noise, the new MIB II infotainment system and eight-speaker stereo will let you create your own soundtrack while cruising in the Beetle Convertible. You can stream audio via bluetooth or use the USB port to plug in your smartphone or mp3 player. The infotainment system now has a bigger touchscreen and App-Connect. Also new for 2016 will be a selection of new exterior colors. Soon, you’ll be able to get the Beetle Convertible in silk blue, habanero orange, dark bronze, sandstorm yellow or stonewashed blue.

Even when the top is off, the safety is on

The latest standard safety feature to be added to the long list in the Beetle Convertible is the automatic post-collision braking system, which applies the brakes when a collision is detected to minimize the chances of a secondary impact and more damage. The Beetle continues to be a five-star safety rated car. A new option for 2016 to increase visibility is the lighting package, which adds bi-xenon headlights, LED daytime running lights and an LED rear license plate light.
